My oh my...

This blog never gets a proper update anymore!

Have to say i often think about updating it, but then i think there's so much i want to update it with and then it just never happens. Bad, bad, bad i know!!!

Anyways, now i'll just update with some random piccies from the last few months and by writing down that i CAN'T wait 'til Tuesday!
What happens on Tuesday you wonder...? Well, Stina's arriving from Copenhagen that night!!! And on Saturday she's followed by Ailsa all the way from Milton Keys! :-P
Tuesday-night's gonna be a crazy night as it's the night before Queensday here, and that's BIG! And on Saturday we'll have a lil' party at my place with some peeps to celebrate both girls being here, it's gonna be awesome!!!

So here come the piccies...

First this was in January, went to see Robyn live in Amsterdam, both on stage & backstage! Was a great night, so happy she finally came to perform here and all my friends absolutely loved her show!

Here's Binkie enjoying the new chair i bought last fall

I think this was girl's night some time in February, don't remember much of that night though...

With my, now former, colleague travelguides in the beautiful city Zwolle on a very cold Saturday in February

Saskia & me went to Rotterdam in March, these were the highlights

then there was the flu

so, finally i'm bloggin again...i had an excuse the last 2 weeks though...the FLU was killing me!
i really can't remember being so sick from the flu before, i seriously had a fever for more than 10 days in a row and for the rest my head was just full of you know what...and i just felt so c-r-a-p.
luckily i had my family & elise over here a couple of times last week, doing the groceries (lots of vitamins & biscuits), cooking (not that i ate that much) cleaning and telling me about what was happening in the outside world haha!

while i was sick 2 filled envelopes from cdon arrived, with some nice cd's...only started to listen to them for real the last couple of days, and am already totally crazy about the new laleh (see link to her website on the right) album, salem al fakir is taking some more time to get used to but i'm loving his album as well.

oh and it's probably totally inappropriate to blog about something over a month ago, but below i've finally posted some pix about the x-mas holiday i spent on vlieland with elise :)

vlieland pictures

ok, it's been a month ago since elise and me returned from the dutch island vlieland, but here's still some text about and pictures of our week there...like it or not!

first, here's our little kitchen...with elise being busy cooking in it

and this is the rest of our living room
(note: the fake x-mas tree next to tv)

from our backyard we could see a x-mas tree that was pretty high up

we also rented bikes to go...biking

view on the village

we went cultural in the one & only museum of vlieland

on our last day on the island we took a trip around the sandy part of the island with this thing

it was a beautiful sunny day as you can see

view on the island texel

pancakes on our last night!

we left vlieland just in time, it was kind of stormy that day

and if you didn't get enough of vlieland yet, there's more in my photobucket (see link on top to the right, album '08 vlieland dec 06')! ;)

off to vlieland!

it's been a while since i wrote a decent post here...

december has been a weird month, had a bit of a boring birthday (which happens when you don't throw a b-day party of course), was sick on and off, worked a lot at the library and on my thesis...which resulted in the fact that my thesis is now nearly done, finally! only need to write one paragraph that's missing somewhere, the conclusion and a summary in english, that's it :D
and i need to edit it of course and get it approved, and get the paper-work done...blabla...
had a meeting with my professor last tuesday and i can graduate in march, probably mid-march maybe sooner...australia here i come!

so today my holidays started and i've kind of been running around all day, cleaning the house, going to town to get some last-minute stuff (and info about flight-tickets to OZ!) , grocerie shopping and packing! tomorrow morning around 6:45 i'm picked up by chris & elise, we'll drive to harlingen & there elise and me will take the boat to the island vlieland!
yes, some people might think we're crazy, but we are so excited haha! We rented an apartment there for a week, are taking our compfy clothes, books & dvd's and will just spend a very un-christmas like christmas....L-O-V-E-L-Y! i'll be back here just in time for new year's, so have a nice christmas everyone!!!

here's some pictures taken at the dinner we had with everyone working at the uni library last week, as you can see from the pictures (both on the pix and the way they are taken :P) everyone got pretty drunk haha!

groningen & sinterklaas

this saturday i met up with my former class-mates from our travelguide-to-be class early this year.
the travelseason is officially over and SRC organized a dinner-party in groningen to celebrate that, a good reason to meet up before that. so most of us already met each other in utrecht from where we took the train to groningen, where nick already waited for us :)

nick showed us around in this lovely city doing that in his very own (read: talkative ;)) manner

nice! guess what's in this building...

an albert heijn supermarket! :P

then during our city walk we walked straing into these funny people...

and more of them together with some sheep...

and if that wasn't strange enough, this was what we saw next...

an african elephant in the streets of groningen! :O

and some camels...

and then this man came around the corner...

in other words; sinterklaas arrived!

then everyone stopped right in front of us because a horse gotta do what a horse gotta do, hehe. sinterklaas didn't seem too happy with it though

back on track, waving at the kids :D

we continued our walk and went to a more quiet part of the city centre, where the headquarters of SRC are, nice to finally see the office i always call to !

then further to the most famous sight of groningen; the martini-tower

and then we saw this on top of the city hall buiding

sinterklaas' helpers had climbed on top of it!

city hall with market square in front of it (and loads of screaming kids, totally excited about sinterklaas' arrival!)

yolande, jos & me with martini tower & market square behind us

after this it was already time to go to the restaurant where the dinner-party was. we had some drinks there, talked with other travelguides and our 'bosses' and then had a really nice dinner.
the party was over too soon already, as we had to catch the 21:15 train to be able to make it home that night. groningen for sure is quite far haha!

jos, bart & margarita sharing stories in the train back home

yolande & me

i was back in alkmaar around 00:40, went straight to elise's, where we did some quick getting-ready-to-go-out and then headed for the bar! :D
