FunConcertsFutureDownUnder...

Time flies when you're having fun eh?! Well i think that's definitely the case for me lately, not only am i busybusybusy with my job also i have been occupied with going to concerts, a bit of partying, a business trip to Melbourne & making plans for the future .

Future plans are very exciting, but mean i really have to put myself on a budget right now...i spend too much money on stupid things! Future plans are also something i don't want to write too much about yet, if you want to know i'll gladly tell you in person (or e-mail :P) but right now i feel like i'm jinxing my plan/dream if i scream it out too loud.

Concerts...yes lots of them Mêlée, Sneaky Sound System, Saybia, Maria Mena....they were all great! And my new addiction is to film some songs during each song, if you want to have a look just click on my youtube films on the left.

And so i have also been Down Under again, my boss asked me to participate in an Agent Training Week at the Monash University in Melbourne...well you don't say no to your boss in those cases do you?! ;) Will post links to the photos of that trip soon!

Here's just a couple of photos from concerts & the Melbourne trip to end this blog with....

Lykke Li live

Wednesday was the night I finally saw Lykke Li live in Paradiso (Amsterdam), after waiting for some months. And it was sooooooo worth the wait, she had everybody dancing from the start and definitely knows how to pull a good show!

She was playing in the small room upstairs in Paradiso & it was sold out! Not that weird considering she's being hyped in some magazines and apparently did a great performance at the Lowlands festival in August. Fun thing was that I had someone asking me how to get a ticket on Facebook and there were people asking us if we had a spare ticket in front of the door...hehe...but she's coming back, on december 6th...doing a concert at 01:00 at night which is actually the 7th then, which makes it my b-day....i should go again!!!

Tonight it's another gig, Melee! And somehow i managed to win a meet&greet for this one haha! Kinda weird, i'm not calling myself a fan of them & i have actually met them before (at the Rockin'Par festival when they were watching Counting Crows almost next to us after their own show there), but it's gonna be fun!

I'm off to Oslo tomorrow morning, have to do some networking with uni contact's at the KILROY roadshow there. Flying home again Sunday afternoon, am meeting with my friend Jiska before and hopefully we will have some time to visit the new Oslo Opera it looks absolutely fantastic!

Next week we are really going to launch KILROY education Netherlands, the website & brochure will be ready, we're going to send out a newsletter & pressrelease and i have my first fair in Amsterdam! It'll actually be the study abroad fair of the university & college of Amsterdam, a fair that i've been at a couple of times with my old job...it's gonna be nice to be back there!

Busy busy busy....but loving it!

New laptop!

Got myself a new laptop...at last!

Had my good old Asus for nearly 5 years, it was so slow it was killing me. Now i got myself an Acer, supposedly a really good brand & (and as a girl this is important to me:) it looks pretty good too!

Love the fact that it's white on the inside, so much easier to type, and that it has a built in webcam...well all laptops have nowadays, but my old one didn't of course.
Best thing about it all is that i got a major discount because i got a mobile internet connection contract with it at the same time, something i already wanted to have anyway, yay!

Now it feels i'm really ready for my new job hehe...can't wait to start on monday!

My favourite 7-year-old

It's been a long time since i posted here, and lots of stuff happened. Lots of good stuff.
Stina & Ailsa visited me in late April/early May and it was just the best week.
Then there were 2 job applications and 4 job interviews for those, in the end i managed to get both jobs...but i had an absolute favourite so it wasn't a hard choice. Instead of working for the Swedish embassy, which i always thought would be a dream coming true, i chose the job of Study & Marketing Coordinator at Kilroy Education NL. I love the company, i love the job, i love the fact it combines everything i've done before with the fact that it's a Scandinavian company, just perfect for me. Something i can & should do.
And last but not least there's been some great festivals & concerts this summer, i suddenly found myself a fan of Live & Melee.

Last week it felt like i was on top of the world, well kinda...i was happy and good things were happening.
But now everything around me feels different. I feel sad & angry.
And this all because my favourite 7-year-old is sick, very sick. They can't say much yet, after today's operation it's at least a week of waiting before they can say more.
So it will be a week of waiting, hoping & praying for the best outcome possible.

alive & kicking

well i am, this blog has been dead for over a month. time to change that and finally update it...a bit at least.

came back from my 3rd travelguide trip on august 19th, took a day off and then got a phonecall from the uni-library the day after...was back @ work there the day after that. so much for being unemployed!
have been working (almost) fulltime ever since and apart from that i'm trying to get my social life going again plus give as much TLC to binkie as i can, poor cat was so confused the whole last month he refused to eat and actually lost weight!

so there's lots to tell about my travelguide trips, birthday parties i've been too, my bike that got 'stolen' by the amsterdam police, my new camera phone, my debts (erhm...well rather not :P), etc. etc....won't do that now though...will just leave you with some pix from this past week. all of them are taken with this lovely new phone:

off to vlieland!

it's been a while since i wrote a decent post here...

december has been a weird month, had a bit of a boring birthday (which happens when you don't throw a b-day party of course), was sick on and off, worked a lot at the library and on my thesis...which resulted in the fact that my thesis is now nearly done, finally! only need to write one paragraph that's missing somewhere, the conclusion and a summary in english, that's it :D
and i need to edit it of course and get it approved, and get the paper-work done...blabla...
had a meeting with my professor last tuesday and i can graduate in march, probably mid-march maybe sooner...australia here i come!

so today my holidays started and i've kind of been running around all day, cleaning the house, going to town to get some last-minute stuff (and info about flight-tickets to OZ!) , grocerie shopping and packing! tomorrow morning around 6:45 i'm picked up by chris & elise, we'll drive to harlingen & there elise and me will take the boat to the island vlieland!
yes, some people might think we're crazy, but we are so excited haha! We rented an apartment there for a week, are taking our compfy clothes, books & dvd's and will just spend a very un-christmas like christmas....L-O-V-E-L-Y! i'll be back here just in time for new year's, so have a nice christmas everyone!!!

here's some pictures taken at the dinner we had with everyone working at the uni library last week, as you can see from the pictures (both on the pix and the way they are taken :P) everyone got pretty drunk haha!

What a week...

* Last week at my current job
* Looking for a new job (and finding one!)
* Wedding of a colleague
* Becoming an Ikea expert (well…almost)
* FC
*T-t-thesis

All good things must come to an end…including 5 months at the
International Office as a Coordinator again…all pregnancy leaves end at a certain point.
Of course I could see this coming for quite a while, but until long it wasn’t totally clear when exactly would be my last working day and/or if there’d still be a chance for me to stay to do some other stuff for a little while. Well in the end, this didn’t happen…and maybe that was for the better, at least it was just meant to be that way.

Called the temp-agency that paid me for this job early this week to tell them I’m available again, and they had some nice things to offer…but when they said I could easily do a secretary job because that was just what I had been doing at the job I was doing now, I got a bit pissed to say the least. Not that I wouldn’t want to do a secretary job for a while, but what I was doing now wasn’t one!
Anyway, in the mean time I also tried to reach my old manager from the
university library, took me until Thursday morning to reach her. But with success, she immediately remembered who I was (always good!) and when I told her I was looking for a job at the moment her first reaction was ‘Oh please come and work here again!’, ha. So, once again I’m switching job to an old one again, I’ll start on Tuesday!

Right after I had this phone call I actually went to have lunch with my (now former) colleagues…my goodbye lunch :) After that we went on our way to
Huizen, where colleague Mayke was going to get married. We had heard all about this day for months, so our expectations were high haha! Näh…it was a nice wedding, one according to the books, but in a good way. Mayke looked absolutely wonderful and they were both very happy and that’s all that counts isn’t it?
After the marriage we went to the reception to congratulate the happy couple, and eat cake! No big official wedding cake but good old
vlaai as vlaai comes from our most southern province and that’s were both Mayke and now husband Marijn are from, one word… *mjam*

Oh yeah and then earlier in the week, actually starting last Friday, I helped Elise moving a couple of times. No she only moved one time, but I went over to help with things a couple of times. Main thing, after the actual moving of the boxes, was fixing all the Ikea furniture. Elise and me keep getting better and better at this and are thinking of starting our own Ikea-at-home-team, well that is if the rest of our careers fail haha! We were especially proud of the big
Pax wardrobe we did, but her new couch was also quite something…It’ll be interesting to see which one of us is the next one to move house again, but the other one is for sure the Ikea-helper again.

Then Cisca was over here this week as well. We made the decision to close down the
Fanclub already early this year and Cisca & me have now finally started the closing of the memberships, after that the FC is no more...
A lot around the FC happened this week as well, let's just say that some people like to milk cows even if there’s nothing to be milked anymore. To be honest I don’t care too much…the only thing I care about is that people we still owe something will get this, and they will :)

And finally, I have to work hard on my thesis this weekend…have an appointment with my professor again next Thursday, wish me luck!
