blue mountains

kate & i went to the blue mountains (about 1 1/2 hours west of sydney) today to see the 2 sisters in katoomba, it was foggy! and rainy...we were just about to just give up and go back home when it got much better, yay!

so down here's the pictures and descriptions again. tomorrow i'm paying a visit to australia's capital......canberra! and on friday it woolly wollongong time, seeing emma again and meeting the kids! :)

an update...finally!

this blog has been kind of dead the past 2 months...but i for sure haven't been sitting still!


there's a lot to tell but the main updates are as follows:

* i'm graduating from uni this wednesday
* i'm leaving for Australia next monday!!!

last time i wrote a decent post here i still had to finish the last things for my thesis, well as you can imagine when reading the above....that's done! my thesis is done-klaar-redo-finito!!!
it's hard to believe i know, a lot of people around me know me as sarah-who-is-still-working-on-her-thesis-even-if-she-finished-the-rest-of-her-studies-a-loooong-time-ago.
well....you better get used to the new sarah now! a.k.a.: sarah-who-just-got-her-MA-degree-and-is-now-going-to-australia-for-3-months.

so i'm keeping this post short, i will update again later this week, to post how graduation was and how preparations for OZ are going!

happy 2007!!!

i'm back in the land of the living, both literally and figuratively speaking, after a week on little vlieland (the island has 1 700 inhabitants) and new year's eve.

vlieland was great...would do it again tomorrow if i could. have lots of pictures which i'll post later this week!
new year's eve was nice, had my parents and sis karlijn over for dinner, then sis leontien joined us and later her friend jik as well. mom had to go to work later in the evening, she usually doesn't mind the nightshifts she works but she does on new year's eve :S, and karlijn also left to celebrate the start of the new year together with jim.
so at 0:00 it was dad, leontien, jik and me wishing each other the best for 2007, and watching the fireworks

elise joined us a little bit later and the both of us got ourselves ready for chris' 80's party, let's say there was a lot of hairspray involved...we left my place at a certain time (time was a vague concept by now), leaving my 3 guests at my place to enjoy the drinks, food and tv for as long as they wanted, and headed to chris' place were the party had was already going strong. the rest of the night is kind of a blur looking back on it now, there was a lot of (fun) talking, good music, some dancing and a lot of beer. came home around 7:00 in the morning, to find my living room all cleaned up...nice!
new year's day was spent in bed & on the couch, my body couldn't take much more than that ;)

today was the first working day of the year again, and i have to say it was a much more relaxed day than i thought. obviously students don't immediately start studying again on january 2nd.

so friday my sis karlijn came over for dinner and after that it was girls-night at my place! well after the tea & carrot cake (still mjammy!) we actually went to town to see if there still were any tables outside at the bars as the weather was sooooooooo nice!
